Word on the street is that Local MediaCorp actress Fiona Xie had tendered her resignation when she shockingly dropped out of Together at the eleventh hour before filming for the blockbuster drama officially began in July. Her hasty departure sparked off rabid criticisms in the local entertainment industry. But miles away from critics at home, Fiona is one happy camper, jetting off to various countries like Hong Kong, Tokyo, and San Francisco to film Ch U's latest food variety programme, Singapore Flavours.
The executive producer for Singapore Flavours, Tay Lin Tin revealed that Fiona met with the production team in Tokyo before they flew down to their second stop at San Francisco together. "I have worked together with Fiona quite a few times before. She has always been very professional. The filming went very smoothly in Tokyo and San Francisco. She displayed the same kind of professionalism, there isn't any difference."
Apart from controversy that the actress had allegedly quit MediaCorp, rumour has it that she has since been living in Hong Kong with her boyfriend who is currently working there. Her manager, Teo Lianhua, expressed that her last-minute dropout were due to "personal reasons" and refuted talk of Fiona's departure from the entertainment industry.
Since her mysterious exit from Singapore in July, Fiona remains out of sight and uncontactable. An insider divulged that she was often seen with her phone on film locations overseas, making calls and sending out text messages during breaks, leaving room for even more speculations. She reportedly flew back to Hong Kong from San Francisco after filming there was completed.
Singapore Flavours will be hosted by four different celebrities, Fiona Xie, Mark Lee, Dennis Chew and Chen Hanwei. They will be filming at Tokyo, San Francisco, India, Beijing, Thailand, London, and Shanghai respectively. The programme aims to uncover how local Singaporean delights have made their way abroad to these countries and how they are enjoyed by the locals there.
